MABS Transparent ABS Overview
MABS (Methyl Methacrylate Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene) combines the impact resistance of ABS with the transparency of PMMA. Unlike standard ABS which is opaque, MABS offers high light transmission (88-90%) while retaining excellent toughness and chemical resistance. It is the material of choice for transparent, impact-resistant applications.
Physical Characteristics: High-transparency glass-like pellets with exceptional gloss. Impact resistance is significantly superior to that of standard PS. It bridges the gap between brittle transparent plastics and tough opaque plastics.

How is MABS different from standard ABS?
Standard ABS is opaque ivory-white. MABS incorporates methyl methacrylate (MMA), the same monomer used in PMMA (acrylic), which makes it transparent with 88-90% light transmission. MABS retains most of the impact strength of ABS while adding clarity.
Is MABS better than polycarbonate (PC) for transparent applications?
It depends on requirements. MABS offers better processability and chemical resistance than PC, but PC has higher heat resistance. MABS is often chosen for consumer goods where chemical resistance (e.g., to cleaning agents) and ease of molding are priorities.
